This Is Something Foreign to Me.

I decided to fly on a private jet for this trip. I don’t feel like flying with other people. I am not trying to flaunt what money I have. I just really don’t feel like being in a crowded waiting area, avoiding the dirty looks of people when I decide to unplug their phones from the charging stations, so I can charge mine. After Alexis joined the team, her input for the magazine has really skyrocketed our sales and stock. I want to reward her for job well done. I booked this plane and it’s equipped with a bed were two can sleep. I am extremely tired and I am more than sure that she is exhausted. Lana told me that she has been staying at the office. I remember those days when I first started working, I feel bad.

As we walk into the airport, Alexis’s phone rings. She looks at the flashing screen, this person must be important because her smile is huge. I wonder who it is.

“Hey, babe.” She says to the person on the other side of the receiver.

Babe? I thought she wasn’t seeing anyone. Isn’t that what you call someone you are interested in, seeking, seeing, dating, sexting, fucking? Whatever damn, synonym you want to use.

“I’m on my way to Florida.”

“Watch where the fuck you’re going,” says a person I bumped into.

“Fuck you!” I say to the dumbass who is cursing me out. I need to pay attention to where the hell I am going or I’m going to get myself into a fight just because I am too busy paying attention to Alexis’s phone conversation. Focus Raven, FOCUS. NO FIGHTS.

I turn away from her and walk towards the premier check-in section of the airport.

“Hold on a second, Raven we have to check-in here?” she questions as she points toward the regular check-in area.

“No, we check-in at the premier counter.”

“Oh shit,” she says surprisingly. “Babe, let me call you back. Text me a date your available and I’ll squeeze you into mi calendario[68].”

As she ends her call, I grab my cell phone and look for our check-in information. Finally arriving at the entrance, the agent asks for identification to confirm our flight. The agent is pretty with plump lips. I see Alexis check her out. I roll my eyes. I am not jealous.

“Follow me, right this way ladies.” We follow her through the door and into a private room. There are desks and different agents tending to other customers. She sits us at the desk where a good-looking agent sits behind focused on his laptop.

“Mr. Cooper, these lovely clients are Ms. Lopez and Ms. Cartagena. They are flying to Florida tonight.”

“Got it. Thanks Carla.”

“Bye Carla,” says Alexis. She turns around and winks at Alexis. I fucking hate her.

“Good evening ladies, my name is Jackson Cooper. Before we begin, what beverage would you like to drink?”

“I’ll have mango martini, please,” I say to Mr. Cooper.

“I’ll have the same,” says Alexis.

“I’m just going to check you in.
